We are our habits...

How do you fill your time?  Do you have hobbies?  Do you have a routine?  I have been working on my habits lately, and it got me thinking.  What habits do I have that help me and what habits hurt me?  There is a lot I strive to do in this life, and how I spend my time will determine if I accomplish my dreams.  What do I do when I have down time?  What activities do I fill my days with?

On my recent trip to Nashville, I got to hear Brendon Burchard talk about habits, hence my diligence in working on said habits.  Our success is tied to our habits.  This was something I had not thought about in a long time.  It was odd to me that I hadn't paid more attention to this.  It's actually pretty simple.  We only accomplish what we allow ourselves to accomplish.  When I look back over the last 10 years of my life, I have greatly changed my habits already.  I am not quite where I want or need to be, but I am definitely further than I used to be.

The changes I have made to my habits thus far were not done with direction.  I knew I needed to make changes, but I was shooting from the hip so to speak.  I did not have a clear vision of all the habits necessary to be as Brendon calls a high performer.  Sure, I can excel in many areas, but I haven't quite cracked the code of reaching and maintaining the heights I strive for.  I have realized that I need direction and have taken to doing a lot of reading and learning alongside formulating stronger performance habits.

What steps are you taking to improve your habits to reach your goals?  Challenge for today...what is one habit you can work on?  Pick that habit and begin.  Don't wait until tomorrow.  Make the choice to improve your habits and take action!
